The Really Big Thumb!

I don't know why but I just really like this giant thumb. It really makes some kind of statement. Not sure what that statement is but it made a big print on my brain.

The Shortened Extended Vacation

So, Dallas and I left for Paris on April 11th. We were to spend 5-6 days in Paris and then fly to Prague on the 17th and stay in an apartment with Warburtons. Well, you know how our vacations sometimes go awry. This one went way off course. On April 14th some volcano that nobody can pronounce in Iceland blew in a very big way. All the ash was carried over northern Europe and they shut down all air travel. When the time came to leave and get to Prague it was a no go. Warburtons never made it out of New York so they came back home. Dallas and I continued to see Paris and ended up in an apartment with two ladies from Tennessee. It was wonderful. We had a great time. We had spare time now because we had hurried to see everything in the 5 days, we decided to go to church Sunday morning. We met other stranded Americans there and one American that works in Paris approached us and gave us his card and invited us to stay with him and his wife. We had to be out of the apartment by Tuesday because the Annelise and Susan (the two ladies from Tennessee) where headed for Nice. We called and stayed one night before we where able to fly home. There were also two girls from Utah staying the night. We decided to come home while we could. It was very uncertain if the volcano would erupt again.

Our New Tennessee Friends, Annelise and Susan.

Our new church friends, Melissa, Kari and Elaine.

We never made it to Prague but I guess that is for another trip. In spite of everything we had a really fun trip. What an adventure.

Just Watching Life Go By

So the other day Juno and I where walking on the Parkway and just before we went under the freeway I looked up and saw a couple of Canadian Geese just sitting there watching traffic and people go by. I thought it was kind of funny so I took a picture.

Last month we saw the Bald Eagle that ususally hangs around the Parkway every January. I got a picture of that too, but something happended to it on my phone. Oh well!

A Whole Lot Of Stuff

I realize it has been a over a month since I posted but much has happened. We had new granite counter-tops installed in the kitchen and laundry room as well as the den. It really classed up the place. We have been on a selling binge starting with our old kitchen sink followed by our roll-top desk and finally our Jeep. So if we sold our Jeep it is obvious that we purchased a 2009 Murano.

We also used all our Skymiles and book a trip to Paris and Prague in April. We decided we would go in celebration of our 30th Anniversery in October, my 50th birthday in April (while we are in Prague) and Dallas'53rd birthday in June.

Life Is Good!

Juno And The Tomato With The Little Strawberry.

So.... the other day I was making some pajama pants and I was pinning the pattern on the material and Dru and Juno were helping/visiting me while I worked. I had to leave my shop for a couple of minutes and Dru and Juno left as well. I was on my way down the stairs to return to my project when Juno dropped my pincushion on the stairs along with sawdust and pins. Well take a look at the picture.

I was so sad. This little tomato with its accompanying strawberry has been with me since I was 12, so that is a long, long time. It was with me every step of the way when I learned to sew. It was just right, not too hard and not too squishy. It was perfect and I was going to make it last until I died. Juno decided for some odd reason that she was going to play with it. IDIOT! Hello, it has pins in it. I was afraid that she might have swallowed some because today she did not seem well at all. Well, turns out she is fine and she was just all mopey because she thought we didn't love her and we hadn't worshipped her enough today. It is a good thing she is so cute and I love her so much.

Anyway, I had to buy a new pincushion which I was not happy about but it looks like my old one and was only $1.99. This was way easier and cheaper to fix than when she chewed on the rocking-chair.

Where Did Christmas Go?

I'm not sure were the time from Thanksgiving to Christmas went but I'm sure it did not involve me.

On Thanksgiving Day, Dru convinced Dallas and I to run a 5K run in Davis County. Dru ran the 10K. I did better than I thought I would and in my age catagory I came in 7th out of 17. I think Dru did well but she was slightly disappointed. Dallas won a 1st place blue ribbon for being the fastest fat guy in the Davis County on Thanksgiving Day. I Am So Proud!

For Christmas Dallas and I decided to get new Granite Counter Tops for our kitchen and laundry room. We spent a lot of time look at Granite and finally found a slab that we both liked and could afford. I will post pictures when it is done on January 8th.

I finally got by car back on Christmas Eve. It looks great and it feels good to be driving my own little car although the rental was nice and I could have this "I don't care" attitude. Mud on the shoes, I don't care. Dog barf, I don't care, except that I did have to use the shop vac to suck it all up, but I wasn't like dang.

Dallas, Dru and I did have a Gingerbread House contest with graham crackers. All three of the house were very creative but it was my purple trailer trash with hitch and old tires stacked behind that won the 1st place prize. I feel pretty good about this win!

Christmas was nice and we were blessed to share it with family and friends.

I hope we have some time to think in January. Although I usually hate January because it is dark and cold, but I could use some time to think and get the carpets cleaned.

I just want to note that I have been blogging for a year now. It was my goal to blog at least once a month and I noticed that I have 16 blogs for the year. I achieved my goal. This is good!
Have A Happy New Year!!!!!
