Memorable Mobile Art?

So I was coming out of the Post Office the other day and in drives this little beauty.  I think everyone in the parking lot stopped and stared because...Oh, My Gosh.  What is it?  To me, it looked like a car from the 50's and the trunk lid had been removed to allow a sort of bed like a truck.  It had a fishing pole from the rear with a stuffed Shamu on the line.  There where stuffed snakes going through the car and hanging out the windows.  It had a couple big horns on it that if honked would have probably scared one to death and well as blow out their eardrums.  All of this was topped off by a guy that looked like his name was Billy and he was from the Hills.  Making him a...........Hillbilly.

Actually, I found the car kind of fun and thought to myself, I guess this is this guys piece of art.  Hey, I've been to MoMa and the Guggenheim and the Modern Art Museum at the Smithsonian and I think this is just and good/bad as the crap in those museums.  It made me stop and smile.  I am still thinking about it 3 days later.  Better than a lot of stuff called art.

A 'Powerful' 4th of July

This 4th of July we had Daphne and Phoebe on the Power Truck with Dallas and I.  Both had a lot of fun throwing candy but Phoebe really liked eating the candy.  Plenty of candy and lots of sticky by the end of the parade.  Next year I think they should watch the parade and collect candy instead of ride in the parade.  They would love seeing all the Princesses (royalty) on the floats. We also went to breakfast, Fun Days in the park and then fireworks that night.  Fun day but soooooo... hot!

Another Bite Out Of The Big Apple

Well, I went to New York City for the 5th time a couple of weeks ago with Brooke. We had a grand time. I actually did and saw some things I had not done before.
We dined at a little Resturant called Serendity 3. We had a yummy Chicken Pot Pie accompanied with Frozen Hot Chocolate and an Ice Cream Sundae. I walked on the Brooklyn Bridge. I went over to Liberty Island and saw the Statue of Liberty upclose and then onto Ellis Island where I have had no ancestors go through. They all came before Ellis Island was the receiving point. Dallas',  DiFrancesco grandparents went through though so Brooke was thrilled to be somewhere where her ancestors had been.

Revisted a couple of museums and visited the Guggenheim and the MoMa for the 1st time. The modern art museums are always great for a good laugh. If you don't laugh at the CRAP they call art you would cry so you just have to laugh. I also viewed some things that I wish  had never been put before my eyes. Yuk!

We went to the 9/11 Memorial and saw the new buildings they are building. We rose into the clouds around the Empire State Building. I have been 3 times before but never when it was cloudy. It as a whole new view or lack thereof. We did go to the top of Rockefeller Center which also has a nice view. The clouds had disappeared and the view was great!

Audrey gave me a gift card to Mood Fabrics for my birthday. I could have spent a good half day inside that store. Sooooo many fabrics to choose from. I bought some fabric for a skirt, bracelets, and a coin purse. Oh, the important part...A Mood bag and T-shirt.

I bought a birthday necklace from Tiffany's and felt like 'somebody' carrying by little blue bag around 5th Avenue.

We shopped, walked and ate, mostly Duncan Donuts until we where exhausted.  We almost missed the plane home because of security but with  a few tears on Brookes part and some running on mine we made it home safe, sound and on time.

Thanks for the memories Brooke!

No Drama Vacation

Dallas and I attended the annual Death Valley Motorcycle ride again this year. I had a blast! I acquired a whole new gang of friends. Notice how they are all guys. Absolutely no drama and I didn't have to wait for the bathroom. The weather was a bit chilly but just right with all the leathers on.
Death Valley is actually filled with color and strange little towns. So many minerals in the earth there. I think I am a deseret rat at heart because I just love it. I can't wait for next year.

Have To Save These Pictures

It is time for a new post and I have some pictures that I really couldn't have get lost in the giant vortex of the computer world. Dallas just backed up my data and these where not there so I figured if I put them here I would have them.

The bouquet in the class container are flowers from my wedding 30+ years ago. I decided that I had carted them with me long enough. They have turned brown and ugly and the container is broken thanks to Audrey when she was small and into everything. I took pictures and thew the flowers, container and all away. Sentimental aren't I?

The other pictures are of a Penny Rug that I made. I walked into a craft store and saw this on the wall, it was the first thing I saw actually, and I loved it and wanted to make my own. Then I thought, Charo would love this! It would also be a good excuse for not being on time with a Christmas package. I bought the pattern and fabric and proceeded forth. It is a true gift when you work hard and love each and everything about the project and don't want to part with it. It turned out beautiful and I had a hard time not keeping it for myself, but I wrapped it with care and a lot of love and sent it to Charo whom I know will love and appreciate it deeply. I will just have to make one for myself now.

I really love it when I exceed my own expectations and do better than I thought I could on a project. This is just such a project. I really, really, love this.

A Very Merry Christmas!

I haven't written a new post for a few months so I'm falling down on the job. I am really enjoying Christmas this year and am looking forward to a great New Year. We have had such a great and fun 2011 so it might be hard to top but I look forward to trying.

This and That and Other Fleeting Thoughts

So, not much has happend since the last post except that Dallas and I attended an UAMPS conference in Jackson Hole and on the way we bought 2 $1.00 lottery tickets in Malad, Idaho and won $12.00 which was a $10.00 gain. Dallas went on the White Water Rafting activity and I went on the Horseback Riding activity. He went down the river and I climbed to the top of the mountains for a beautiful view. While sitting atop my horse, atop of the mountain, very dark clouds moved in, the wind blew, there was thunder and lightening and it sprinkled. It was ......wonderful.

I participated in the 2011 triathlon but this time I recruited Dani Njord to swim for me. I was disappointed because I felt I didn't preform well and my bike chain fell off right as I was approaching a hill. I have no idea how much time it cost me. I guess there is always next year and maybe I will work on my swim. Probably not likely.

I did something I thought I would never have to do....I joined Weight Watchers. I have lost a few pounds but short of starving myself I'm not sure I can lose anymore and I REFUSE to give up my See's Chocolates.

A calm life right now is good and Juno - I just love her.
